About the Artist
Karen Osborn is an Australian equine artist whose work explores the quiet power and presence of the horse.
Living amongst her herd of horses on the Sunshine Coast, she paints from direct observation of their daily lives, capturing moments of stillness that reveal the horse as more than subject.
Witnessing the Rise of the Equine
In the quiet rhythms of the herd, Karen has witnessed extraordinary depths of awareness within the fluid relationships of the herd members, and their attunement to the land, the seasons, and the human visitors into their space. Her work is dedicated to capturing these moments.
I paint the horse not as subject , but as presence.
My work arises from their daily lives-
moments of stillness, deep awareness and being.
Since the dawn of humanity,
horses have carried us across landscapes,
cultures and history.
We are at the cusp of a new era in our relationships with horses,
and as an equine artist,
I am part of that shift.
